I highly recommend this book, even if you are not into YA, as it focuses on intrinsic human emotions. The result is a really beautiful story of the complexity of the human mind and how we choose to remember the things we love. Throughout the story, you gather bits and pieces that hint toward his chosen adult profession. I was envisioning a small group of middle school-aged friends solving mysteries in their town so was pleasantly surprised to learn that it wasn’t a club formed by the actual kids but rather the main character’s “Uncle C.” The chapters fluctuate from Jake’s memory of that summer to present day as he now works as neurologist. It was not quite what I expected, but I really enjoyed reading it.

After reading a review that compared The Saturday Night Ghost Club to Stranger Things, I thought, “yup, I’m reading this book.” This was recommended to me by a friend, and although I am a believer in not judging a book by its cover, I was immediately drawn to the title.
